NFL Standings: Green Bay Packers On Top
The Week 9 NFL standings still have the Green Bay Packers on top. In fact, the Packers are the only undefeated team in the league now, and are coasting toward another round of playoffs. At 7-0, the team would be the No. 1 seed in the 2012 NFC Playoffs if the season ended today.
The NFL standings have a few other interesting revelations, including 3-4 records by both the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. That is not where either team wanted to be at this point in the season, but it's the New York Giants leading the NFC East by two full games right now.
There are also two teams that haven't won a game yet, and now they are competing to see which one will have the first overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Miami Dolphins are 0-7 and the Indianapolis Colts are 0-8. The Colts have fallen really hard without Peyton Manning, and the Dolphins simply haven't found a winning formula in the AFC East.
The Pittsburgh Steelers hold the best record in the AFC at 6-2, with the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens right behind with five wins apiece. The San Diego Chargers could notch a fifth victory on Monday night as well, and that just shows how close things are in the AFC.
It's definitely been an interesting beginning to the 2011 NFL season, and the league is just about to reach the halfway point of the year. It means that anything could change, and soon fans will also find out if the 6-1 San Francisco 49ers are for real. That team gets to play some weak opponents in the coming weeks, and could have a good chance at becoming the first team to clinch a spot in the postseason.
What do you think of the current NFL standings? Which team do you think is over performing and will come back down to earth soon?
