Lazar Gets Chosen
With an exclusive one-on-one interview with Steve ‘The Homer’ True, we got to know a little bit about Lazar Hayward that made him get chosen in the first round. Lazar Hayward was picked with the 30th overall pick with the rights going to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Homer, the voice of the Marquette Golden Eagles and a host on ESPN radio, explained that the main reason that Hayward was chosen was because of the success that Wesley Matthews had a year ago after being undrafted. Matthews was the unsung hero for the Golden Eagles in his time at Marquette. The body of work that both players have are quite similar. Since Hayward has no true position, that also boosts his draft status. Lazar Hayward finished in the top five in points and rebound at Marquette. The mocks draft first had Hayward going into the late second round a few weeks back. He inched further and further closer to the top of the second round as the weeks went on. Today, he inched even closer as Lazar gets guaranteed money by going into the first round.
