LUIS VASQUEZ NAMED RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Mustangs’ defensive lineman is recognized for his big performance against San Jose
MILWAUKEE (June 8, 2012) - The Milwaukee Mustangs are proud to announce that defensive lineman Luis Vasquez has been named the Riddell Defensive Player of the Week for Week 13 of the Arena Football League season.
Vasquez (6-3, 270, Arizona State) was sensational in the Mustangs’ 81-68 win over the San Jose SaberCats last Saturday at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Vasquez recovered a pair of fumbles for touchdowns against San Jose. His first score followed a recovery off of the net on the opening kickoff. He added another touchdown in the first quarter when he scooped up a SaberCats fumble and rumbled 43 yards to pay dirt.
“It feels good to see our team’s hard work pay off,” said Vasquez, who joined the Mustangs late in the 2011 season. “Everybody made big plays and those gave me the opportunities to make mine.”
Vasquez shares the league lead for fumbles recovered with Chicago Rush linebacker Kelvin Morris. Both players have picked up four fumbles this season.
Mustangs take on the Philadelphia Soul tonight at the BMO Harris Bradley Center at 7 p.m. This game will be featured on the NFL Network. Tune into 540 ESPN (espnwisconsin.com) for the live play-by-play with Bill Johnson.
