MLB Free Agent Rumors – Ryan Dempster to Milwaukee Brewers?
Milwaukee was one of the surprise teams in the National League this past MLB season as the Brewers finished the season 83-79 and just four games out of the second wild-card spot. Recent reports have the team looking to add another starting pitcher this winter and names are already starting to hit the rumor mill.
The latest news from Chris Cwik of CBS Sports has the team showing interest in Ryan Dempster
of the Texas Rangers. The veteran pitcher has experience in the NL with Chicago and a return to the Midwest would have him closer to his Canadian home.
Dempster went 12-8 with a solid 3.38 ERA this season, but his ERA of over 5.00 after a trade to the Texas Rangers
could have the 35-year-old looking to return to the National League and with the Brewers likely letting Shaun Marcum leave via free agency this winter, signing a veteran with playoff experience could help this team in the 2013 season.
While free agent signings are still a few weeks away, teams are already putting feelers out and small market MLB teams
like Milwaukee must be cautious with their money and signing solid veteran players are the only way to compete against the richer teams in the league.
