MLB Trade Rumors – Shaun Marcum to Baltimore Orioles?
Baltimore has surprised most MLB experts with their play this season and the Orioles are on the verge of making the post-season, but the team still lacks depth on their starting pitching staff and are looking for someone to help over the last few weeks of the season.
Milwaukee wanted to move Shaun Marcum before the trade deadline last month, but an elbow injury put the 31-year-old on the DL and the Brewers had to keep the right-hander. Marcum just made his first rehab appearance and that has sparked interest from teams in contention and Baltimore is tops on that list.
Buser Olney from ESPN reported that the Brewers would move the veteran pitcher if they dropped in the standings and now that the team has little hope of making the playoffs, look for a waiver wire trade to take place before August 31.
Marcum is a very steady MLB starting pitcher and with a career mark of 55-35 with a 3.73 ERA, Baltimore would get a pitcher that can help them over the last third of the season and help the Orioles finally break their long streak of missed playoffs and that would generate some good feelings among the fans of the team in September.
